Highest Education

Children have claims which their parents should acknowledge and respect. They have a right to such an education and training as will make them useful, respected, and beloved members of society here, and give them a moral fitness for the society of the pure and holy hereafter. The young should be taught that both their present and their future well-being depend to a great degree on the habits they form in childhood and youth.

Description of graphic.About Pathlights Junior

Granny Temcat is very old fashioned! The era I grew up in was very different than the world we see around us now! From our youngest days we would hear about Missionaries and their wonderful adventures. We got to see the real thing also, as really-truly missionaries on furlough and returned missionaries often came to tell us their adventures, especially at the campmeetings! The Church School we attended was called a 'Missionary College' and most of us wanted to be some kind of missionary when we grew up, But we didn't have to wait until then, because we had the wonderful Junior Missionary Volunteers and we all could be a JMV!

It was all about service, caring and helping others and learning useful skills and yet it was fun too! Much more fun than make believe or recorded entertainment. The values and many of the skills I learned back then, have remained with me all my life, even though, regretfully, at times I was not always walking with the Lord. Even then, they were like a gentle voice, calling me back to what was good and true.

I have found that young people of today respond to these same worth-while values and so this old fashioned site is here to share those same old stories, useful skills, and true values of life, and invite all, whatever your age and wherever you live, to grab hold for yourself to the wonderful world of a Missionary Volunteer! You don't need to join an organization or any permission from someone to be a Missionary Volunteer right where you are! Get to know Jesus and join up with Him, ask Him to show you ways you can be a blessing to others and make a positive difference right in your home and neighborhood. Let this be your prayer:

Out in the highways and bi-ways of life
Many are weary and sad,
Carry the sunshine where darkness is rife,
Making the sorrowing glad!
Make Me a Blessing; Make Me a Blessing
Out of my life, May Jesus shine!
Make me a Blessing, Oh Savior I pray-
Make Me a Blessing, to someone today!

"We know not in what line our children may be called to serve. They may spend their lives within the circle of the home; they may engage in life's common vocations or go as teachers of the gospel to heathen lands; but all are alike called to be missionaries for God, ministers of mercy to the world. They are to obtain an education that will help them to stand by the side of Christ in unselfish service." Child Guidance 483.
